Table of Contents
ToggleSouthwest Airlines no longer accepts ESA letters for air travel. All animals onboard must meet pet travel regulations.
Southwest Pet Policy:
Small cats and dogs only
Pet fee: $95 each way
Animals must remain in their carrier for the entire flight
Use of ESA Letter:
While it doesn’t apply to travel, an ESA letter may help during airport security screening if extra emotional support is needed.
Final Thoughts: Your ESA can still fly with you on Southwest, but not as a service animal. Pet fees and restrictions apply. You can view Southwest’s official pet policy here: https://www.southwest.com/help/animals/pets.
